MFT Birds of a Feather Card kit

Final day of The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge, I am a bit sad....it's been fun coloring everyday for the past 30 days and having a forum to post my work.  Coincidentally, I just received the new MFT Birds of a Feather card kit.  Must play with it!  The challenge I gave myself is to use the card kit for 3 challenges - The 30 Day Coloring Challenge, MFT's most recent Sketch Challenge and Color Challenge.  Since taking a class last Sunday at MFT, been rather keen on what's happening on their blog.

To begin, I die cut all the components I want to use from the card kit, and colored them with COPIC markers that are close to Blu Raspberry, Blue Yonder,  and Ripe Raspberry.  I used MFT's No line coloring card stock and quite like it.  It allows the COPIC markers to blend easily, it is a bit thicker than Xpress-It, and I like that is is a brighter and warmer white.  I created a clouds background on the cut outs from the Sketch Challenge specified Collage Cover Up die by airbrushing clouds with COPIC markers BG0000, BG00, and BG01.  I arranged the cut outs onto masking paper so they will stay in place during airbrushing.  I like to make my own stencils from cloud border die cuts rather than using plastic stencils, less clean up required.

I added thin strips of foam tape to the back of the collage frame.  I adhered the frame to white card stock, and cut around the edges of the frame.

Next I adhered the cut frame with backing using Tombow wet glue onto the front panel of an A2 folded card.  I find it's much easier to center the frame when using wet glue. I call it "scoocherability"; wet glue allows more time for positioning. I then popped the clouds background onto the collage frame secured with some adhesive.  Adhered the colored birdies, flowers and leaves die cuts, some flat gued, some popped with foam tape.  For the sentiment, I die cut the word thanks 4 times, 2X white card stock, 2X black, then stacked the black ones on top of the whites to give the word more dimension.  Finished card with adding a bit of clear glaze in the center of the flowers and the birdies' eyes for a little shine.

I chose the sentiment to express my gratitude to Kathy Racoosin for organizing the Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  I am thankful for the opportunity to focus on coloring, something I really enjoy.  And last but not least, thanks to all those who liked my posts and those who left affirming comments on Instagram.
