IO Challenge I Sea You!

Today, I watercolored the Mermaid Rockside stamped image for day 3 of The World Watercolor Month.  Thought I'd make a card with the watercolor and enter it in the IO I Sea You challenge.  I like these dual purpose creations...

I stamped the image using 2nd generation VersaFine Toffee pigment ink, to give me a very light image on Fabriano hot press paper. I colored in a sky with Kuretake's Gansai Tambi watercolors No.61. and Zig Clean Color Real Brush marker Shadow Mauve.  For the ocean I painted wavy layers of blues and greens from Gansai Tambi, Kuretake Zig Clean Color markers and Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils.  The mermaid was watercolored with Zig markers.  I added washes of Fine Tec Blue Pearl to the mermaid's tail and Kuretake's Light Yellow Pearl Colors to the stars in her hair for some shimmer. I interpreted the rock to be a large shell and colored it with Derwent Inktense and Zig markers.

I trimmed and framed the watercolor with frames die cut from IO's Rectangle 6 in one frame dies on metallic papers. The white frame was popped up with foam tape for some dimension.  I stamped "Sea you soon" with VersaMark Sepia ink on the upper left corner careful to fit sentiment within the frame.  The framed piece was adhered onto Neenah 110 lb Solar White folded A2 card.  I embellished the left corner with a shell from IO's Seashells which I colored with Tombow and Marvy markers, then fussy cut it and edged it with a Tombow marker 912.   The triple bow in natural linen was tied with a Bow Easy.
