Paper Sweeties - Whimsical Angels

For a change of style from the last few posts, I made something whimsical.  While I more or less had a design in mind, this evolved as I played.  The cloud background was created with pan pastels and some cloud stencils.   I wanted to use the Crafty Tree die cut left over from another card. The angel on the right came from a stamp and die set by Paper Sweeties which I believe may have been retired.  I stamped, die cut and colored the angel on the right.  The stamp set only came with one angel but I wanted two on opposite sides to hold a banner with the stamped sentiment.  I tried a technique new to me; stamped the angel on a mirror photopolymer stamp, then stamped the mirror image on card stock.  It did not turn out very crisp.  To remedy that, I used  a black Copic multiliner and filled in the outline.  Then I colored the mirror angel with one of my Christmas presents - Chameleon Color Tones alcohol markers.  Love their fine tips and ability to create multiple shades with one pen.  I am still getting used to them.  I cut the arms of the angels with an Xacto knife, then popped left angel with foam tape and tucked the banner under their arms; secured with a dab of Ultimate glue.  Adhered the right angel after I positioned the banner where I wanted it.

The fences are from one of my favorite and first Paper Sweeties purchases Home Tweet Home.  I die cut them out of cherry wood and foam taped them onto the hilly slope.  Added leafy garlands and Paper Sweeties' signature flower sequins for embellishments.  Also gave the banner and angels' wings a hint of glitter with Clear wink of Stella.

Memory Box Poinsettia Card

I was so far behind getting Christmas cards and ornaments ready for this year,  it felt like a production with deadlines.  I want to enjoy the creative process and avoid the mad rush.  So I decided to make Christmas cards/gifts throughout the next 11 months.

Yesterday, on the 5th day of Christmas, I made a card with the Memory Box Poinsettia die; one I've had for a while but not used. (Some of you crafters out there know what I'm talking about....). I love the visual effects from layering different red card stock, mirror metallic, pearlized metallic, matt, and for the center of the flower, I used dull antique gold.  The white background was die cut using the Adler Star Collage from this year's winter release, I left in some of the cut outs to add interest and foam taped over a piece of hunter's green metallic card stock to give it more dimension.

Poppystamps Oh Christmas Tree!

inside of card

I wanted to make a festive card with traditional red and green colors. Here I "layered' a tree on top of a tree by using the Small Flourish Tree die cut on the inside of a shaker card, then created a tree window with the Crafty Tree Background die. I adhered sequins to the flourish tree so some tree ornaments will be visible instead of all falling to the bottom of the shaker.  A star tree-topper with center rhinestone completes the flourish tree.  Shaved ice,  Christmas snow, glitter jumbo and a few sequins were placed on the inside of the shaker to simulate snow.  For front sentiment I added the word joy and used a glaze pen to give it some shine. Christmas trees do indeed give me JOY!

Serendipity Sparkle challenge

When I saw the theme for the December challenge "Sparkle" I immediately thought of the stamp "Leave a little sparkle wherever you go".  I married the stamp with the snowflakes reverse die to create this card. For sparkle, I used sea glass and white diamonds glitter paper and silver mirror paper for die cut snowflakes.  I inlaid the snowflake die cuts from the different papers.  The sentiment was stamped with Basic Grey and the word sparkle was heat embossed with silver; then fussy cut and popped up with foam tape.

IO Stamps - More Tree Ornaments!

Had so much fun making tree ornaments this holiday season with IO dies!  Friends and family seem to really appreciate them.  This one is made with the small poinsettia, pine branch, holly flourish and berry dies.  On the back of the ornament I stamped Noel from the Tidings of Joy stamp set, colored with Copic markers to give it an ombre look. Then used a glazed pen to add some shine.

Shaker Ornament
Shaker cards are so much fun, I thought why not make a shaker ornament? I used the IO Deer Snowglobe die, added Bo Bunny's glitter paste to mask the bottom of the globe.  Added glitter, and shaved ice to add sparkle to the shaker.  Made a bunch of these for family and friends this Christmas.

IO Stamps last minute Gifts

This holder is an easy and fun gift to make if you don't have much time.  IO stamps made it easy with their dies. The base can be quickly assembled after die cut using DIE432-UU. Then adorn with layers - paper of your choice using DIE433-Z.  To add embellishments, I used some of IO's pine and holly dies, then glitz it up with Clear Wink of Stella.
I first saw this idea with Post-It notes at Impressive Ideas, sample made by Karen Amidon.
