Paper Sweeties - Whimsical Angels

For a change of style from the last few posts, I made something whimsical.  While I more or less had a design in mind, this evolved as I played.  The cloud background was created with pan pastels and some cloud stencils.   I wanted to use the Crafty Tree die cut left over from another card. The angel on the right came from a stamp and die set by Paper Sweeties which I believe may have been retired.  I stamped, die cut and colored the angel on the right.  The stamp set only came with one angel but I wanted two on opposite sides to hold a banner with the stamped sentiment.  I tried a technique new to me; stamped the angel on a mirror photopolymer stamp, then stamped the mirror image on card stock.  It did not turn out very crisp.  To remedy that, I used  a black Copic multiliner and filled in the outline.  Then I colored the mirror angel with one of my Christmas presents - Chameleon Color Tones alcohol markers.  Love their fine tips and ability to create multiple shades with one pen.  I am still getting used to them.  I cut the arms of the angels with an Xacto knife, then popped left angel with foam tape and tucked the banner under their arms; secured with a dab of Ultimate glue.  Adhered the right angel after I positioned the banner where I wanted it.

The fences are from one of my favorite and first Paper Sweeties purchases Home Tweet Home.  I die cut them out of cherry wood and foam taped them onto the hilly slope.  Added leafy garlands and Paper Sweeties' signature flower sequins for embellishments.  Also gave the banner and angels' wings a hint of glitter with Clear wink of Stella.

Memory Box Poinsettia Card

I was so far behind getting Christmas cards and ornaments ready for this year,  it felt like a production with deadlines.  I want to enjoy the creative process and avoid the mad rush.  So I decided to make Christmas cards/gifts throughout the next 11 months.

Yesterday, on the 5th day of Christmas, I made a card with the Memory Box Poinsettia die; one I've had for a while but not used. (Some of you crafters out there know what I'm talking about....). I love the visual effects from layering different red card stock, mirror metallic, pearlized metallic, matt, and for the center of the flower, I used dull antique gold.  The white background was die cut using the Adler Star Collage from this year's winter release, I left in some of the cut outs to add interest and foam taped over a piece of hunter's green metallic card stock to give it more dimension.

Supplies used:

Memory Box Adler Star Collage die Style 99597

Poppystamps Oh Christmas Tree!

inside of card

I wanted to make a festive card with traditional red and green colors. Here I "layered' a tree on top of a tree by using the Small Flourish Tree die cut on the inside of a shaker card, then created a tree window with the Crafty Tree Background die. I adhered sequins to the flourish tree so some tree ornaments will be visible instead of all falling to the bottom of the shaker.  A star tree-topper with center rhinestone completes the flourish tree.  Shaved ice,  Christmas snow, glitter jumbo and a few sequins were placed on the inside of the shaker to simulate snow.  For front sentiment I added the word joy and used a glaze pen to give it some shine. Christmas trees do indeed give me JOY!

Serendipity Sparkle challenge

When I saw the theme for the December challenge "Sparkle" I immediately thought of the stamp "Leave a little sparkle wherever you go".  I married the stamp with the snowflakes reverse die to create this card. For sparkle, I used sea glass and white diamonds glitter paper and silver mirror paper for die cut snowflakes.  I inlaid the snowflake die cuts from the different papers.  The sentiment was stamped with Basic Grey and the word sparkle was heat embossed with silver; then fussy cut and popped up with foam tape.

Then adorn with layers - paper of your choice using DIE433-Z.  To add embellishments, I used some of IO's pine and holly dies, then glitz it up with Clear Wink of Stella.

Enjoy playing with wintery border dies.  This one is Frostyville. I used the same concept I developed for the Get Cozy Wintery card and applied it here.  Used various Memory Box snowflake dies, inlaid the snowflake on the upper right to give it added dimension.  The plaid paper is from Authentique's Wintery collection.  I randomly added Nuvo crystal drops to a few of the snowflakes for embellishment.

Serendipity Stamps November Blog Challenge

Chickadee Christmas Shaker

The challenge was to add texture.  I added Pentart's Snow Paste on the top of pine branches and one of the pine cones. I then added fine glitter to the Snow Paste before it dried.  I love the Chickadee image and want to show case it inside a shaker.  For a bit of sparkle and texture, I used clear sequins, Disco white glitter, clear glass beads, Queen & Co's white sugar and Stampendous' Shaved Ice inside the shaker.  Accented the main front panel with gold and silver rainbow tape. The word Peace is stacked with Peppermint on top and Old Olive under.

For the IO Stamps challenge that will end in an hour or less, I made this fall themed card using the new Give Thanks sentiment die and 2 sets of IO's leave die sets. I die cut a circle as the base, glued it to the Butter Mints card stock and applied adhesive tape on top of the circle.  I died cut sets of leaves using the Echo Park Fall is in the Air solid card stock and layered them onto the circle base; glued only the base of the leaves to allow movement of the leaves.  Added IO's small apples and a twine bow as embellishments.

Halloween Shaker Card

Happy Halloween!!!
After a seemingly very long absence from crafting due to back surgery, I am having loads of fun making Halloween shaker cards.  Here's one of my favorites.  Love the colorful Pebbles paper from the Trick or Treat collection.  The window was die cut using heavy metallic card stock and I placed it flush in matt black card stock. I stamped the spider web with Hero Arts Unicorn pigment ink and embossed with clear crystal embossing power for a gossamer effect.  "Fright Night" was heat embossed.

Supplies for this card:

Impression Obsession Challenge - Furry Friends

I used Phthalo Blue Tint pan pastel to create the clouds background; die-cut the bunnies on white felt paper to make it extra "furry".  I also added a little pink chalk onto the bunnies' tails and ears.  Carrots, bunnies, grass border and frame were die-cut using IO dies.  I added the frame onto the cloud background, then layered the carrots starting at the top of the frame with ultimate glue and foam tape. The grass was glued flat onto the cloud background at the bottom of the frame. I then tucked 2 bunnies in the grass. For the card base, I used heavy white card stock onto which I flat-taped Doodlebug's Spring Garden "Sweet Talk" paper, leaving about an eighth inch white border on the top and bottom.  I then foam taped the cloud background with bunnies, carrots and frame onto the card base.  I added a bunny to the right side of the frame leaping towards the carrots in the sky, and a bunny on the lower left corner who may not be sure if the carrots are for real....  I finished with a small triple bow adhered with ultimate glue on the lower right.
For the inside of the card, I used a stamp from IO's Real Life Sentiments set. The bunny inside was colored with a touch of apricot pastel chalk to provide a little contrast from the white paper.  Had so much fun creating this bit of furry bunny whimsy!

I used Serendipity's Japanese Tea stamp set, masked the teapots and stamped with alternating colors to create the background.  Following the Asian theme, I wrote the Chinese and Japanese character for tea using the brush end of Memento Tuxedo Black marker. Then I diecut and embossed the frame using the largest die from Spellbinder's Tile Works set. Finished card by popping the teapots and the character for tea.

Hummingbird Cards

Papers from the Bo Bunny Butterfly Kisses collection, available at Impressive Ideas.

This collection of papers are lovely and versatile. It also begs to be fussy cut!  The hummingbirds, larger jars, and butterfly on the lower left corner of the card on the right were all fussy cut. I edged all the papers, birds, jars and butterfly with Color Box Gray Whale Cat's Eye ink pad. I used silicone glue to give the jars and birds additional dimension.  Added glossy accents on the butterfly and Clear Wink of Stella on the birds for a subtle shimmer.
